Simplification - Family Closet

A few weeks back I came across a post where the author was explaining how her family uses a Family Closet.  The author had a very large family and this made storing clothes so much simpler for her family.  Now, I don't have a large family.  It's just The Man and I and 2 kids.  But, I do have a little boy who is very good at stuffing his clothes into the deepest, darkest regions of his closet only to be discovered by an exasperated mom as she desperately tries to figure out where his clothes have gone. I tossed the idea around in my head and came up with this solution; our own version of the Family Closet which I set up in my sewing room:

001

The Man and I share this bookshelf for our clothes.  The boys each have three cubbies for their clothes.  All the hanging clothes for the boys, The Man, and me are on this rod which we hung from the ceiling, and braced against the wall. We've lived with this for 3 weeks now, and I have to say that I love it!  The boys are in charge of the laundry.  Izzy starts a load every morning, and both boys fold the clothes and putting them away.

Everything's in one central spot which keeps it simple.  There is room for my ironing board which I can set up and get clothes put away as soon as they're ironed.

And best of all - JWes has nowhere to stuff his clothes away out of sight.  I can see right away if something is amiss.

Later, I'll show you what we did with the boys' old closet space.
