Vinyl Word Art+Painted 1x4=Non-Permanent Word Art

008

Have you seen all the vinyl word art that you can apply directly to your walls?

I have been waiting to find just the perfect saying for my house.  I finally found it at 50% off, on our trip a couple weeks ago.

Once I got it home, though, I chickened out

Which wall did I want it on?

What if I wanted to move it later?

What if we moved sometime in the near future?

I got cold feet.

So, I came up with this solution:

I scrounged in the garage and found some abandoned 1x4s. Then, I decided how I wanted the phrase split up and cut pieces of wood to fit with my jigsaw. (Next to a drill, a jigsaw is your second-best friend).  These pieces of wood I sanded down with sandpaper to round the sides and corners.  After priming them with spray-primer, I spray painted them and then affixed the vinyl lettering.

To hang them, I used some picture wire and attached it to the back with little nails.

After roughing up the edges with sandpaper to give them a slightly distressed look, they were ready to hang.

I think I like it even better than if I had just stuck the vinyl lettering directly on the wall, and now I can move it should I decide to re-decorate.

Which may happen tomorrow.

I'm fickle like that.
